Harold Hugh Fisher Sr.

Harold Hugh Fisher Sr., 71 of Mineral Wells went home to be with his Lord on March 26, 2014 in Ft. Worth, TX. Harold was born on May 30, 1942 in Houston, TX., the son of Harold Henry and Mildred (Ademeck) Fisher. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Clarence Carberry. He married Betty Sue Lyles on April 5th 1963 in Houston, TX.Harold served his great nation in the U.S. Navy, before attending the University of Houston, and enjoyed a long career in the oil & gas industry. He even served several stints internationally, until his retirement in 2007.Retirement was not befitting of Harold. In fact, Harold put a lifetime of public service into his remaining years here on earth, and here in Mineral Wells. Harold served several years as the Palo Pinto County Liaison for the Salvation Army. His love of community later evolved into the founding of Noah's Ark Thrift Store. With help from others in the community, Harold was the driving force that got Noah's Ark off the ground. In addition his service with Salvation Army and Noah's Ark, Harold was a previous member of Mineral Wells Rotary Club.Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells, where he was an instrumental leader, organizing Youth Mission Trips throughout the U.S and Texas. He also used his experience with youth and his passion to help others, by substitute teaching in the Mineral Wells I.S.D. He was a mentor to many students, as he shared his life's experiences with them. Harold was also the biggest High School Basketball fan in the area, supporting the Lady Rams, and the Brock Lady Eagles, where his granddaughter Savannah played four years at varsity level on state championship teams.Harold is survived by his wife Betty Sue Fisher of Mineral Wells, daughter: Tanya Sue Fisher, son: Harold Jr. and wife Cara Fisher, grandchildren: Natoshya Sue and husband Danny Reed, Jessica and husband David Sowell, Savannah Fisher, great-grandchildren: Izabella Sue Reed and Jeremy Sowell. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Wade Fisher. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday March 28, 2014 from 6-8p.m. Funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday March 29, 2014 at 10a.m., burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you desire donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Program or Noah's Ark c/o Shelly Ramsey at First Financial Bank Mineral Wells.
