Gloria Witherspoon

Gloria Witherspoon, 74, of Mineral Wells, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at home surrounded by loving family. Graveside services will be 2 PM Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Newberry Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Cody Davis, John Clint Witherspoon, Bobbie Kinman, Donnie Hogg, Andrew Loyd, and Alexander Sabol. Visitation is from 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Gloria was born August 19, 1937, at Whitt, Texas, the daughter of William and Ophelia Bruton Brown. She grew up in Cool, Texas, attended school at Millsap, and was Salutatorian of the graduating class of 1955. She married Jack A. Witherspoon on May 26, 1955, at Beulah Baptist Church in Fox, Texas, beginning a marriage of love and laughter that was to last more than 56 years. Gloria was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed reading, collecting books and antiques, and cooking. Her quick wit and sense of humor were loved by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of Mineral Wells, daughter: Jana Witherspoon of Fort Worth, son: Jack A. "Bear" Witherspoon Jr. of Everman, Texas, sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and Donnie Hogg of White Oak, Texas, Sylvia and Bobbie Kinman and sister: Myra Sabol all of Weatherford, Texas, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Judy Bailey Carter and Beverly Twedt for their devoted service to Gloria and the family; and the staff of IntegraCare Hospice, especially Lora Lewis, RN, and Regina "Gigi" Brillhart, CNA, for the quality care provided to their loved one.
