George Welford Smith

George Welford Smith, 79, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at his home. He was born December 6, 1941 in Albemarle County, Virginia to Granville and Lula Mable Jones Smith. George served in the US Army. He married Jo Harriet Dewitt on February 26, 1965. George retired from Mitchell Energy then went full time at the Palo Pinto County Sherrif’s Office. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Ronan Smith, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

George is survived by his wife, Harriet Smith; children, Gary Wayne Smith and wife Gaylene, Rebecca Ann Bell, and Joshua Smith and wife Nichole; special niece, Karen Shifflett; grandchildren, Samuel Wayne Smith and wife, Rhiannon, Emily Smith, Benjamin Bell, Serenity Smith, and Natalie Smith; his sister, Carol Beasley; and his beloved dogs, Linda Lou and Roxy.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday December 4, 2021 at Rough Country Ranch Cemetery, 3795 S. FM 4, Palo Pinto, Texas 76484.
