George Mays

George Everett Mays, 71, passed away December 4, 2009 at his residence in Mineral Wells. He was born February 20, 1938 in Barksdale Field, Louisiana the son of Everett James and Alberta Pearl Batterton Mays. He married Mary Jo Fikes on May 25, 1957 in Brady. Services will be 2 PM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells with Rev. James Bond officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Rochelle Community Cemetery in Rochelle, Texas with Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating. Visitation is Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Ray and Lauri Mays of Mineral Wells, daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Mike Johnson of Mineral Wells, Joann and Tommy Byerley of Fort Worth, grandchildren: Stephanie Mays, Matthew Mays, and Zachary Byerley, brothers: Gerald Mays of Ohio, Carl Mays of Farmers Branch, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert and Ann Fikes of Kerrville, Steve and Gwynne Fikes of Kerrville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in April of 1997, and sisters: Carmel, Charlotte, and Doris. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells or the American Cancer Society.
