Gary Franklin Morris, 64, passed away on April 1, 2022 in Mineral Wells, Texas. Gary was born February 9, 1958 on a military base in Germany. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Misty McCoy, mother, Wanda Jean Savage, stepfather Elvis Lamond “Firecracker” Savage and father, Eugene Talmadge Morris.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Chelsea Morris, Nihla Kay, Pamela Morris, and Lacie Dalayne; siblings, Ricky Morris and fiancée Aarilyn Johns, Randy Morris and wife Leigh Morris, Jay Morris and wife Donna Morris, Rhonda Nicklas and husband Jimmy Nicklas, Sheree Lemley and husband Brian Lemley; grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
His contributions to the lives of many include his work as a deputy sheriff and constable, displaying his dedication to Mineral Wells. Throughout his years of service, he served as a staple to Palo Pinto County and a mentor to many, young and old. He was known for telling you the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. He lived life to the fullest and often enjoyed picking his guitar with family and friends. He was well-known for his cooking, and fixed up—quite arguably, the best smoked brisket you’d ever tasted. He wore his devotion to his daughter like a medal of honor greater than any tangible badge he’d ever received. Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, as well as many members of the community.
Gary’s memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, April 23rd at 10 am, officiated by Jerrell Tomlin. The burial will follow the service at Woodland Park Cemetery. A family and friend gathering will be held after the service at the home of Jimmy and Rhonda Nicklas.
