Gartha Hortez Redman of Mineral Wells, went to meet her Lord and Savior Friday, March 12, 2010, at age 92. Funeral services were held Monday 2 PM at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Mineral Wells with burial in Woodland Park Cemetery. Rev. David Wilkins officiated, with Sam Ford, John Wilkins, Owen Falls, Billy Briscoe, Mack Hall and Robert Herring served as pallbearers. Her grandsons served as honorary pallbearers. Gartha was born April 12, 1917, in Geneva County, Alabama the daughter of Lee Gordon Dean and Dora Eva Granbury Redman Dean. After a previous marriage in Columbus, GA. she married Sherman Redman July 7, 1952, in San Antonio, TX and spent a number of years living in various places, including Germany, as a military wife. Sherman Redman preceded her in death December 22, 2003. She had lived in Mineral Wells since 1956 and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved singing in the church choir and was a member of Oasis, Mineral Wells Eastern Star and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She had a beauty shop at Fort Wolters for several years. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Greer and Randell Yoes of Mineral Wells, and daughters Dora Kay Redman of New York, and Angela Marie Redman of Lewisville; step-son, Edward George Redman and wife Donna of California; grandchildren, Randy Yoes and wife , Leesa of Stephenville, Teresa Fowler and husband, Brad of Grapevine, Melinda Wilson and husband, Phil of Azle and Gordon Harper, Sonya Harper and George Edward Harper all of Mineral Wells. Survivors also include step-grandchildren, Christina Oberst and husband Warren, and Michael Redman as well as a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters and a son, Kenneth Harper.
