Garland Shires

Garland David Shires, 80, passed away December 30, 2014 in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born November 13, 1934 in Palo Pinto County, the son of Jerry and Gertrude Whitfield Shires. He married Rose Glover on September 3, 1954 in Mineral Wells. He was a lifetime resident of Palo Pinto County. He was a member of the Mineral Wells Church of God. He retired from Cantex after working for 32 years. He was the owner of S&S Growers from 1987-2001. Services will be 10 AM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Mineral Wells Church of God. Burial will follow in Willow Pond Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5-7 PM at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife: Rose Shires of Mineral Wells, children and spouses: Salena and Monty Young of Gordon, Terry and Brenda Shires of Mineral Wells, David and Sheila Shires of Mineral Wells, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, siblings: Lois, Ruth, Betty, John, and Zack, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings, and daughter: Penny Mata Roe.
