Frankie Judson Belcher, 79 years old, passed away on March 19, 2024 at Medical City in Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 11, 1944, to Orie and Lorine Belcher, in Quanah, Texas. He grew up in Chillicothe where he attended school and graduated.
Frankie served 2 years in the military from 1965-1967. While in the Army, he served as a Security Officer/K-9 dog handler where he protected helicopters that were used to train pilots headed to Vietnam. He was stationed at Ft. Wolter’s Army Base in Mineral Wells. After leaving the military, he went to Weatherford College, in the evenings, to acquire his bachelor’s degree. Frankie was a butcher for his whole life and worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a security guard.
Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, Orie Dee Belcher and Lorine Burkett-Belcher; his sister, Nellie Lorine Belcher and her husband, Lester Bellamy; his brother, O.D. Belcher and his wife Lillian Belcher, and his brother Clifton Eugene Belcher.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Belcher; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Francine Belcher; his daughters, DeAnna Gillespie and husband Robert, Sherrie Schmeets, and Angela Belcher; his grandchildren, Jordan and wife Jessica Schmeets, Taylor Schmeets, Lynzee Gillespie Kirschner and husband Austin Kirschner, Austyn Gillespie, and Faith Schmeets; his great-grandchildren, Henry White, Charlotte Schmeets, Samuel White, Madelyn Schmeets, and Judson Kirschner; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Frankie loved making people laugh, going to the casino, listening to music, fishing, feeding the birds, and above all, his family. He was always the first one to help those in need. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love him.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Dobbs Valley Cemetery.
