Floyd Wheeler, 68, found peace on Sunday, July 1, surrounded by his family. Visitation is set for Wednesday July 4, 2012 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home, and funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, officiated by Lianne Turner. Burial following at Woodland Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Wheeler, J.W. Blue, Don Locke, Frankie Belcher, Mike Mathis, and Phil King. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Bradshaw and Dick Reed.Floyd was born in Mineral Wells, TX., on December 27, 1943, the son of J. C. Wheeler and Catherine Gray Wheeler. He was a graduate of the Mineral Wells High School Class of 1962. He married his high school sweetheart, Kay Blue, on August 6, 1965. From this union were two daughters, Kacy Wheeler Dow, and Kathy Jo Wheeler Lusk. For many years he was co-owner of Blue's Produce Market along with his father-in-law, James Blue. From 1989 until his retirement in 2009 he was supervisor of Maintenance at CCA.Floyd was a gentle soul; a faithful husband, a loving father and grandfather, a favorite uncle, and a compassionate friend. He was devoted to his wife, children and family. He enjoyed the outdoors, raising hogs, his other animals along with gardening. In his leisure he loved to watch Disney and "old" western movies and cartoons. He also enjoyed a visit here and there to the casinos. His most precious time was spent with his granddaughter, Alli Jo, better known as "Sweet Pea." She was the best medicine, a sweet blessing.Floyd is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kay Wheeler, daughters: Kacy Dow and husband, Kevin; Kathy Jo Lusk and husband, Bubba. Granddaughter, Alli Jo Lusk; step-granddaughters, Whitney and Bailee Lusk and step great-granddaughter, Charlee Martin, brother Raymond Wheeler and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Myrtle Wheeler Jowers.In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donation be made to the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, TX.
