Florene Ladd

Florene Walker Ladd, the daughter of A. J. and Winnie Walker was born in Canyon on August 1, 1919. Being a native Texan she lived in the Panhandle area and moved with the family to Mineral Wells in 1935. She attended and graduated High School there and later enrolled and finished Draughn's Business School. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years. She married Ross Ladd in 1942 and quickly became involved with his employment as agent with the Fort Worth Star Telegram Newspaper. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, especially in Sunday School Class, and this gave her an abundance of friends. She was also a member of Zonta Club. Flo and Ross traveled a lot both loving the outdoors and visiting with family and friends. Services will be 2 PM Monday, December 21, 2009 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. She is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law: A. J. and Linda Walker of Belton, Gary Walker of Kansas City, Missouri, David Walker of Killeen, sisters and brother-in-law: Jean Jackson of New Braunfels, Eddie and Tommy Crutchfield of Irving, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999 and her parents.
