Florence Emma Rice Dewkett

Florence Emma Rice Dewkett, 87, of Mineral Wells, left this world to be with our Lord, Thursday, May 7, 2009, in Fort Worth. Services will be 10 AM Monday, May 11, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Woods officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday.Florence "Fuzz" was born in Thetford Center, Vermont on June 8, 1921. She was the daughter of Aden and Mildred Kent Rice. Florence was an LVN and served in the United States Navy as a W.A.V.E. She married Leroy Harrison Dewkett on June 17, 1945, in Springfield, Vermont. They raised two sons and traveled the world throughout many years.Florence was active in her community including Meals on Wheels and serving as a member of the Palo Pinto Hospital Auxiliary until her death. She worshiped at the First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells.Florence is survived by her husband, Leroy "Duke" Dewkett, son, Bruce and wife Margo of Longview, TX and son, Tom and wife Debbie also of Longview, TX., a sister, Beverly Abbott of Springfield, Vermont and nieces Barb Rawson of Londonderry, Vermont and Wendy of Knolton, Ohio and many friends and extended family members.The family asks that donations be made to the Palo Pinto County Hospital Auxiliary.
