Esta Southern

Esta Mae Southern, 89, of Mineral Wells went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, May 2, 2015. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home. A service will be help at 1 pm on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Southside Church of Christ, 1401 Southeast 25th Avenue in Mineral Wells, followed by graveside services at Sturdivant Cemetery. She is survived by four children, Michael Southern and wife Janice of Fort Worth, Gary Southern and wife Sharon of Mineral Wells, Debbie Webb of Mineral Wells and Karen Graham and husband Bill of Leander. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Deana Parkhill and husband C.D., Lori Pena and husband Carlos, Shane Webb and wife, Brenda, Amy O'Bannon and husband Damon, Kylie Brock and husband Marc all of Mineral Wells, Eilene Franks and husband Jason of Bethany, Oklahoma, Jamie Southern and wife Megan of Fort Worth, Curtis Graham and wife Lauren of Waco, Elizabeth Graham of Georgetown and Chase Southern of Dallas. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren, Clint, Taylor and Allysa Parkhill, Courtney Pena, Jessie, Colby and Gary O'Bannon, Pamela Hopkins, Chelsea Morgan, Brenden Webb, Baillie and Chloe Brock, Grayson and Jonah Southern, William and Clara Graham and Hudson and Bryson Franks. She is also survived by two brothers, J.W. Hearne of Fort Worth and Bruce Hearne of Haltom City, sister-in-law Margarita Southern of Mineral Wells and numerous nieces and nephews. Esta Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Curtis Southern, her parents Noah and Annie Hearne, brother Aven Hearne and step-grandson Cody Green. Esta Mae was born on April 5, 1926 in Mineral Wells, Texas. She married Curtis Southern on December 26, 1946. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their farm north of town where they planted and cared for over 3000 peach trees, selling their produce at the Dallas and Forth Worth farmer's markets. Esta Mae was a longtime member of the Eastside Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her family. She loved loading up the grandchildren in the truck to go check on the cows and would often be seen in the bleachers watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play various sports. She was affectionately called "Mimi" by family and was "Mimi" to all their friends as well. She had the gift of hospitality and everyone enjoyed spending time with "Mimi". She was also known as a "Strong Woman" throughout her life, but especially in recent years during her battles with cancer. She leaves behind a rich legacy of faith, family values and love. She was loved and respected by all and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of her health care providers, especially IntegraCare Home Health and Hospice Services.
