Elton Allen "Curley" Bridges 83, of Possum Kingdom Lake passed away October 19, 2011 in a Mineral Wells hospital. Curley was born July 7, 1928 near Graford, the son of Oran and Bessie Storm Bridges, and lived in Possum Kingdom all his life. He attended school at Lucille Community, and then went to school in Graford. He joined the U.S. Army in 1948, and served in Korea, Japan and Okinawa. After leaving the service and returning home he worked on Bob Hinkson's Ranch and the Sherr Bros. Ranch and later moved on to work at the Possum Kingdom Dam, then retired from the Brazos River Authority in 1970. He met Elizabeth Young in 1973, and they became life long companions. Elizabeth preceded him in death in June of 2006. Survivors are sister Retha Teague Dickerson; sister-in-laws Ruby Bridges and Delores Bridges; nieces and nephews Tempie and husband Gary West of Roby, 3-C and husband JD Berry of Graford, Travis and wife Kay Lynn Bridges of Possum Kingdom, Butch and wife Marylin Bridges of Chico, Melinda and husband Carl Williams of Mineral Wells, Dee Dee and husband Robert Keeach of San Antonio, Pete and wife Natalie Bridges of Possum Kingdom, Donna and husband James Huddleston of Millsap, Beth Pearce of Joshua, Randy and wife Terry Bridges of Fort Worth, Renitta and husband Cliff Noblett of Fort Worth along with many great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Oran and Bessie Bridges; brothers Adran, Delbert, Vernon and Yvonne. Visitation is Friday October 21, 201 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home, and the service is Saturday October 22, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Possum Kingdom at 2:00 PM; burial will follow at McAdams Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Rusty Bridges, Chase Bridges, John Matherly, Jesse Pearce, Cole Hargrove and John Altum, honorary pallbearer is Cheyenne Bridges.
