Ellis Burns went to be with our Lord on September 25, 2016. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Elli's life at 2:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is 1:00 PM Friday at the church prior to the service. Ellis was born January 4, 1926 in Mineral Wells to William C. Burns and Willie Allen Burns. He married Betty Jo Crosland of Pleasant Valley on February 24, 1946. Ellis joined the United States Marine Corps as seventeen and served in WWII and Korea. He was married to Betty for sixty one years. They had two daughters, Alicia and Shelia. Betty preceded Ellis in death in 2007. He first worked as a teenager in the Baker Hotel. After the Service he began working for Texas Power and light which led him to other electrical companies and with promotions moved our family to many other states. He retired from Oklahoma City and returned to Mineral Wells and owned Burns' Brother Appliances with his brother R. A. Burns. He was a Master Mason for 50 years. Ellis and Betty were devoted members of Calvary Baptist Church. You could see him mowing the lawn and trimming the bushes for many years. At 86 he was still planting a vegetable garden to share with everyone! We want to thank Sunflower Park for all their care and extra attention from his nurses and aides. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Alicia and Harold Hyman, Shelia and Dennis Vinson, grandsons and spouses: Hayden and Lisa Hyman, Cody and Megan Hyman, Daniel and Veronica Vinson, Keith and Bonnie Vinson, great-grandchildren: Kolby Hyman, Leighana Hyman, Ella Hyman, Colt Hyman, Zoie Vinson, Alec Vinson, Gracie Vinson, and sister: Janelle Doss.
