On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Eldon Lynn Perry, 73, of Mineral Wells, Texas passed from this life. Lynn, as he is called by the family, was born in Ada, Oklahoma on November 6, 1948, to Eldon and Era (Johnnie) Perry.
Lynn was the youngest of seven children. When he was born, his older sister, Lee, took over a lot of his care to help her mother. Essentially, she became a second “momma” to him, and they developed a special bond that lasted for the rest of their lives. Lynn became an uncle when he was 6 months old when his first nephew, Clyde, was born. This meant that he was closer in age to many of his nieces and nephews than most of his siblings. He was considered more “one of the kids” and grew up with his nieces and nephews closest to him. When he was a kid, Lynn liked cowboys and comic books. He would ride his bike, shoot his cap guns, read his comic books, and play with his dog, Lassie. He always loved to laugh. When he found something funny, he would spike an eyebrow and look at you with a big grin on his face ---and just a little glint of orneriness shining in his eyes.
Lynn was born in Oklahoma but spent most of his life in Mineral Wells. The family moved to Mineral Wells in the early 60’s when Ft. Wolters Army Base was bustling and the town had lots of job opportunities. The Baker Hotel was still open at that time and Lynn’s first job was an elevator operator there. Later on in his life he also worked for the city water department and several years as a clerk in the Crazy Water Hotel. He spent the last years of his life living in the Sandstone Foothills Apartments.
Lynn is survived by two sisters, Gladys Mainard and Laura Pullum, and brother-in-law, George Turner all of Mineral Wells. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Era Perry; two sisters, Mary Allen and Lera Turner; three brothers-in-law, Tandy Allen, Noah Mainard, and Billy Joe Pullum; two brothers, Jake Perry and Larry Perry; and sister-in-law, Margaret Perry.
