Doyle L. Z. Pruitt, 81, passed away October 21, 2014, at his home in Mineral Wells. He was born February 5, 1933, in Mineral Wells, the son of L. Z. and Bessie Gabriel Pruitt. He married Charlene Cowan on June 1, 1958, in Stephenville. He was a veteran of the US Army having attained the rank of Sergeant (E5), Spec 2 Special Forces (10th Regiment). He was a longtime resident of Mineral Wells and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1950. He received his Masters of Education in Administration from Texas Tech. He worked in the Texas Education System for 30 plus years as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He worked at the following schools: Morton, New Home, Springtown, Palo Pinto, Celina, Whitt, and Mineral Wells. He also farmed for most of his life. Services will be 10 AM, Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Indian Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife: Charlene Cowan Pruitt of Mineral Wells, daughter and son-in-law: Marva and James Thomas of Graham, son and daughter-in-law: Dale and Renee Pruitt, grandchildren: Lacy, Krysta, Dylan, Kiarra, and Zaniya Pruitt, Eli Snell, Samuel and Chaucey Thomas, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved aunt: Gladys Gabriel, brother and sister-in-law: J. N and Sally Pruitt, and sister and brother-in-law: Darlene and Doy Leatherman.
