Douglas William McKellar, born July 28, 1950 in Buffalo, N.Y. left this world on January 5, 2022 at the age of 71.
Doug was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He brought his family and made his home in Texas in the mid 1970's, continuing his dream of living the Western lifestyle. He spent a literal lifetime working on his trade as a saddle maker and leather crafter. He apprenticed at age 16, and throughout his lifetime of other endeavors, almost always had his hand in leather work. He has "cowboyed" throughout his life as a bull rider, a stock contractor and rodeo producer, as well as saddle maker, and worked as a roughneck in the oilfields when he was younger. In his latter years, he enjoyed learning to cook and had a chuckwagon which he took to ranch round-up's and various events where he would do Dutch Oven cooking for ranch hands and party-goers. He greatly enjoyed driving his team of horses and giving carriage rides to kids and newlyweds. He loved being with his friends at the Wah-Hoo Ranch, and playing small parts in Western movies with Texas Western Legends. He was a large presence and will be missed by many.
A Memorial Service is planned for him at Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church in Santo, TX on Saturday, February 5th, at 2 p.m
