Dorothy Landers

Dorothy "Sissy" Nell Florez Landers passed away on September 11, 2015, at her home in Mineral Wells, TX, surrounded by her family. She was 84. Dorothy was born in Sulphur, OK, on May 27, 1931, to Floyd and Cora Lovett Florez. She graduated from Rush Springs High School in Rush Springs, OK, in 1949, and on September 23, 1950, married her beloved husband Roy "R.L" Landers, Jr. in Vernon, TX. The couple had five daughters. After living in various places around the country, the family settled in Mineral Wells in 1968, where Dorothy worked for Phillips Components for several years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, loved animals, and was an avid watcher of Days of Our Lives. Her kindness and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her husband; her daughters: Gaye Whatley; Pamela Landers and husband Jack Koestline; Sharon Welch and husband John; Dana Landers; and Terrie Henderson; her grandchildren: Alison Ching and husband Jason Zachary; Lauren Morehan and husband David; Ryan Segars; Lacey Schwanke and husband Justin; Jessica Henderson; Jacob Couch; and Adam Koestline; her great-grandchildren: Alex Martin Segars, Kathleen and Andrew Morehan; and Alice Schwanke; and her sisters: Margaret Duncan; June Gibson; Patricia White; and Sandra Frazier and husband Don. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Billy Florez. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at The First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, 100 S.W. 4th Avenue. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Baum-Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home, 302 W Hubbard St, Mineral Wells, TX.
