Donald Blain Fairrel, 70, passed away August 4, 2014 in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born April 8, 1944 in Mineral Wells the son of Bun and Flora Bell Ford Fairrel. He married Phyllis Jane McCarthy on June 5, 1971 in Weatherford. He worked in law enforcement for 40 years serving as Police Chief for 33 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Police Chief's Association, Rotary Club, and Lions Club. He was over the Cross Timbers Task Force at its beginning. He taught Criminology at Weatherford College and Lake Jackson. Services will be 10 AM Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Visitation is Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife: Jane Fairrel of Mineral Wells, children: James Christian Fairrel and wife Anita of Weatherford, Donald Brian Fairrel of Mineral Wells, Stephanie Marie Conn and husband Perry of Canada, grandchildren: Kristen and Dawson Fairrel, and brother: Norman Fairrel of Mineral Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson: Dillan Fairrel.
