Don Zahn... Aka DZ and papa Don... passed away Monday afternoon, March 24th, at his home at Possum Kingdom Lake, surrounded by his loving family.Memorial Services will be 10 AM Friday, March 28, 2014 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.The visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday March 30, 2014 at Lakeridge Chapel in Lubbock. Graveside services will be 10 AM Monday, March 31, 2014 at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock.Don was born December 3, 1935 in Montague, Texas to Pete and Mellie Zahn. They moved to Lubbock, Texas when he was at the age of 3. He served in the Army for 2 years. Don married Ruth in 1960 and they were married for 53 years. Don was in the paving business for 50 years, most of those years in Lubbock, Texas, and eventually moving his business to Possum Kingdom Lake, where he retired in 2010. Don served 2 years on the board of the Possum Kingdom Lake Chamber of Commerce. He spent many, many years of his life racing motorcycles and cars. Don and his family were members of The West Texas Boondockers motorcycle club for numerous years. He was a pilot for 40 years and had many different airplanes that he loved passionately!! He also loved riding his Sea doo around the lake and up the river, and always had to be out front of all his friends!! He loved speed and loved anything fast.Don is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of Possum Kingdom Lake, Son, Rick Zahn, and wife, Debbie, of PK Lake, 2 daughters, Donna Beitel and husband James of Perrin Texas and JoJo McKee and husband, Mark, of Lubbock Texas, a brother, Ronnie Zahn of Lubbock Texas, a sister, Shirley Myers of Cotton Center, Texas, 6 grandchildren, Tasha Fontaine, and husband Cody of Weatherford, Texas, Ryan Zahn, and wife, Megan of Mineral Wells, Texas, Beau Burgess of Lubbock Texas, Brooke Burgess of Lubbock Texas, Shelby Zahn of Mineral Wells Texas, and Ashley Hamilton and husband David of Perrin Texas. 3 great grand-children, Maddie Fontaine of Weatherford Texas, Ryder Hamilton of Perrin Texas, and Ellie Zahn of Mineral wells Texas, and 3 more great grand-children on the way this year!!
