Deryl Calvin Harris

Deryl Calvin Harris, 88, slipped peacefully from this life into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ; Sunday March 13, 2016 at home.Deryl was born March 4, 1928 at Shannon Texas to Arthur and Lilly Mae Harris. Deryl was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend to many. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1946-1949 in Japan. He married his one and only love, Nell Marie (Elenburg) of Jacksboro, TX. on August 12, 1950.Visitation will be Tuesday March 15, 2016 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Service will be Wednesday March 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells. Interment will follow at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.Survivors are his wife of almost 66 years Nell Harris; daughters and spouses, Sue and Scott Duncan and Cindy and Don Whisenhunt; grandchildren, Chris Duncan, Chad Whisenhunt, Terra Mitchell, Valerie Hopkins, Don (Bubba) Whisenhunt and Brittany Whisenhunt along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bod Neumeyer of Council Hill, Oklahoma, and brother and sister-in-law, Loyd and Bea Harris of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and sister-in-law Sharon Harris of Houston.Deryl was preceded by his parents, his brother Von Harris and 16 year old brother Billy Wayne Harris.The family would like to thank Kendred at Home Hospice for the wonderful care provided by attentive nurses, Jennifer Tollini, RN, Brenda Danforth, RN, Shana Culbertson, RN and Jackie Clarkson, PCA.Any donations can be made to the Pythian Home in Weatherford in memory of Deryl C.
