David Ernest Shupp passed away to his heavenly home June 4, 2013at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services will be held June 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at Baum Carlock Bumgardner in Mineral Wells. Burial will be at Holders Chapel near Cool, Texas. No formal visitation is planned. David was born June 4, 1944 in Camden, New Jersey to Warren and Donna (Greer) Shupp. At age 12, Dave was baptized and loved the Lord as his savior. He enjoyed Singing, Reading and conversing about history of all kinds, coaching soccer and Fishing especially the cold waters of Puget Sound. Crossword Puzzles were part of his daily routine Dave always was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He was an Eagle Scout. Dave was a 1962 graduate from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach California. After graduation, Dave joined the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air force, He earned The National Defense Service Medal, Air force Good Conduct Medal, Service overseas Badge and The Pacific Headquarters Air force medal during that time. He was an air traffic control instructor. Dave graduated from Central Washington University in Seattle with a Bachelor of Arts. While working for Boeing Aircraft Dave joined the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller later, Dave was the airport manager at Mineral Wells airport from 1990-199.1 He retired in 2000 as an air traffic controller from Amarillo, Texas, after his retirement and moved back to Mineral Wells to be close to his family. Dave is survived by his wife of 22 years Maxine; His four children David Shupp of Phoenix, AZ, William Shupp of Conroe Texas, Daniel Shupp and wife Carla of Chandu, China, Heather Chronkite and husband Patrick of Parker CO, step daughters, Laura Denise Edunn and husband Joel of Tarzana CA, Jowanna (Jodie) Sellers of Mineral Wells, TX, Nine grandchildren Garrett Riggs, Daria Lysenko, Jackson Shupp, John David Chronkite, Kobe Shupp, Abigail Chronkite, Ian Shupp, Emily Shupp and Alec Shupp; the mother of his four children Brenda Shupp of Parker, CO, Sisters Kathy Napp of Vista CA, Denise Brines and husband Tim of Bend, OR; brother Robert Shupp of 29 Palms CA; and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father and step mother Bette Shupp. We will forever miss him and already long to be with him in heaven.
