Daniel G. Lawson 62 of Mineral Wells ended his struggle to conquer several illnesses in a Fort Worth hospital on March 22, 2013. Dan was born in Mineral Wells on April 19, 1950 to Gene and Billie (Daniel) Lawson. His love of sports began early and was one of his greatest pleasures to the end. He was a captain and played on the championship basketball team for Mineral Wells High School. His love of sports continued with playing on several local baseball teams after high school. In later years he enjoyed watching his grandson Manuel in several sports and his granddaughter Morgan with her cheerleading.Dan lived in Mineral Wells most of his life and was employed at PPGH, a local, supervisor for Vort Exploration as well as many years in sales for Whatley Motors. Dan was a fun and faithful, dependable and loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend; he was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by parents, Gene and Billie Lawson and niece Lisa Cooke. Survivors are daughter, Amanda Lawson and husband Jerry, sister Ann Courts, grandchildren Manuel and Morgan, nephew Jeff and wife Hollie Courts, great-nieces and nephew Kristi, Kati and Josh Cooke, cousin Hilda Daughtry and wonderful and loving friends who were so good to Dan and his family. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to any youth sports organization in Dan's name. Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2013 from 6-8pm; graveside service is Tuesday March 26, 2013 2pm at Woodland Park Cemetery.
