Connie Vela Roberts

Connie Vela Roberts, 83, of Weatherford, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Weatherford. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel, Rev. Bobby Williams officiating.Connie Vela Roberts was born on August 28, 1925, in Rio Grande City, TX, the daughter of Cecillo Vela and Demetrica Morales Vela. She was married to Bill Riggs, John Rhodes and Buck Roberts.Connie was an LVN at the Nazareth Hospital and Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells. She also worked at Campbell Memorial Hospital in Weatherford. She retired in 1994 after 40 years of nursing. She loved to go dancing and fishing.Connie was diagnosed with Alzheimer 's disease in 2001 and in her last years she declined from the ailment. She will be missed. She was a special person in her own way. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Gorman for all the care she has given to Connie. They would also like to thank Alpha Omega Hospice and Weatherford Health Care.She is survived by her daughter, Pat Riggs Hinman and son-in-law Claude Hinman and granddaughter Tiffany Hinman of Weatherford; sister, Eluira Lee and family of Mineral Wells; brother Jesus Vela and family; sister, Ernestina Preston and family of Carrollton; brother Erneston Vela and family of Rio Grande City; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
