Colin Mark Jones, 64, passed away on March 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born June 25, 1960, in Salinas, California, to Jerry and Diana Jones. Mark was greeted in heaven by his parents, his in-laws David Lee and Nancy Ellen Hibner, and his brother-in-law Chip Briggs. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lori, his 3 sons, Paul James, Brett Jones and wife, Kaylee, Ethan Jones and fiancée Samantha Stafford. Mark was a very active Papa who adored his grands, Bella Nicole, Ivy Rose, Emmaus Allen, and Brilynn Rae. He was also a wonderful and protective big brother to his sister, Laurie Briggs, and a cherished Uncle, Cousin, and Brother-in-Law.
Mark retired from Fort Worth & Western Railroad, he was an engineer/conductor and loved being on the train. He was a mentor, a friend, a prayer warrior, and he loved God. Throughout his cancer journey, he was determined to share his Jesus with those who were afraid or angry – he wanted all to know his Savior and that life eternal can be theirs. Mark’s chemo bag would sometimes have water, snacks, and a word-puzzle, and that bag always had a copy of “Imagine Heaven” to share with a new chemo friend. His testimony and gift made an impact on many.
Mark is missed by family and a slew of friends, he truly “walked the talk” – his heart was big, and he loved helping anyone in need, be it painting a house, fixing a step, running errands, or giving whatever cash he could pull out of his pocket. He was a faithful servant, and serve he did. “His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:23
