Clyde Ray Guess, 68, of Mineral Wells, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010, after a brief illness, in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be 10 AMFriday at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth at 1:30 PM. Rev. Jerry Thomas will officiate and Doug Brown, Doyle Light and J. K. Sims, Chad Hill, Tim Seigler and Butch Richards will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be American Legion Post 75 and Mineral Wells Bass Club. American Legion Post 75 will provide Military Honors. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner.Mr. Guess was born July 16, 1941 in Fort Worth, the son of Earl Clyde and Carrahbell Veal Guess. He was raised and spent his youth in Mineral Wells and returned in 1997. He married Sandra Clayton who preceded him in death February 15, 1996. He married Joan Newkirk Fisher December 15, 2000 in Weatherford, Texas. He was a nine year veteran of the United States Navy and a Baptist. He was a Life Member of Mineral Wells Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2399 and a member of Mineral Wells American Legion Post 75. He was also a member of the Mineral Wells Bass Club.Survivors include his wife, Joan Guess of Mineral Wells; daughters, Tonya Guess and friend Richard Spears of Mineral Wells; son Earl Clyde Guess and wife Edna of Bakersfield, CA; daughters, Amy Slimp and husband Shane of Palo Pinto, Donna Mitchell and friend Bobby Mitchell of Ft. Worth, Freida Valley and husband Andrew of Mesquite and Sharon Colton and husband Johnny of Baytown; sons, Freddy Fisher of Dayton and Robert Sanders and wife Pam of Baytown; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-brother, Tommy Dikes and wife Karen of Mineral Wells; several nieces and nephews, and three dear friends, Joe Morehead, Doug Brown and sister-in-law, Judy Eyer.He was preceded in death by his Dad Earl Clyde Guess, Mother Carrabell Dikes, Step-dad, Harlen Dikes, his first wife Sandra Guess and a daughter, Martha Moore.
