Clyde Alvin Coker

Clyde Alvin Coker, 95, passed away May 2, 2013, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born August 23, 1917 in Denton County, Texas, the son of Felix Franklin Coker and Mattie Cleo Edwards. He married Eva Mae Adams on September 22, 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee, and they were married for 70 plus years. He was a life long member of the Church of Christ.Mr. Coker was a retired bank officer. He retired from the First National Bank of Mineral Wells in 1978, having begun his banking career with the State National Bank in Mineral Wells in 1947. He was a Vice President at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for over 20 years, serving one term as President and serving as a Director. He was also District Director of the Girl Scouts; Chairman, United Way of Palo Pinto County; Republican District Committeeman, 17th Congressional District and Republican County Chairman of Palo Pinto County. Mr. Coker moved to Mineral Wells, Texas in 1939 as manager of the A&P Food Store. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1934.Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Jerry Thomas and Dick Reed officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at the funeral home. Coker of Charleston, South Carolina, daughter and son-in-law: Patricia C. and James M. Heller, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, grandson and wife: Lee McCanless and Lucynda J. Coker of Atlanta, Georgia, two great-granddaughters: Hayden and Sawyer Coker, nephew and wife: Ron and Carmen Coker, and also by numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Adams and infant son, Edwin Ernest Coker.
