Christie Gandee Kellar 1953-2022

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”  2 Timothy 4:7

Christie Gandee Kellar of Mineral Wells, Texas passed away at age 68 in the comfort of her home on February 4, 2022.  There was no doubt a celebration as she was greeted into eternity by her parents Harold and Dottie Gandee, her grandparents Artie Mae Studdard Gandee and  Jess Gandee, Helen Wheeler and Hobert Edler and her aunt and uncle Jewel Piper and David Gandee who preceded her in death.

Christie Lea Gandee was born the youngest of three sisters in Mineral Wells, Texas on October 31, 1953.  She attended grade school there and graduated from Mineral Wells High School. With her energy, optimism and keen sense of humor, she attracted many friends in school with whom she developed lifelong friendships. She remained in communication with many of these friends up to her passing.  Christie settled in Lewisville, Texas where she married and had one daughter, Jennifer Wright.   She eventually moved back to Mineral Wells, where the Gandee clan has family ties that date back to the 1800’s.

She had an exciting and busy career as a journalist for the Mineral Wells Index, something in which she took a lot of pride and satisfaction in.  Afterward, she led a quiet life with her beloved dog Charity.  She was a staunch advocate and supporter of animal rescues and spent a considerable amount of time trying to help lost pets find homes.  She was a faithful member of the Eleventh Avenue Church and she devoted time daily to following and living the word of God.  She also spent a lot of time keeping up with her family whom she loved fiercely. It was a full-time job and it gave her tremendous joy to follow the happenings of all of them daily.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Wright and grandson Mason Nutt of Aledo, Texas, sisters Alecia Reimers and Pat Nordstrom of McQueeney, Texas, nephews and nieces Mike and Stephanie Reimers of Fulshear, Texas, Cory Nordstrom Cain and daughter Erin Cain of Austin, Texas, Michelle Reimers Kelso and children Kolton, Kross and Kodi Kelso of McQueeney, Texas, Colby and Amy Nordstrom of Fulshear, Texas and their children Taylor, Addison, Sydney and Zachary, cousins Scott and Carol Gandee of Denton,Texas and their children Jess, Vada and Noah Morris of Killeen, TX , and Jim and Kathy Elder of Midway, Texas.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” These are words that we hold very dear because they are attributes of her character and a testament to us all.  They are also the last words she spoke.  Christie Gandee Kellar was a warrior when her life called for it, a survivor because of it and a true believer. Through her trials on earth, she never lost faith in God.  Not one single time.  No matter what, she could always find something to be grateful for and laugh about.  She is a testament to us all to keep going, and to keep the faith with a loving heart, cheerful voice, and jovial laugh, always and without wavering.

Christie, Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend to many…until we meet again on the other side, we will love and miss you from here. Live on in heavenly peace.
