Charles William Welch, 90, passed away April 14, 2011 at his home in Mineral Wells. He was born on September 27, 1920 in Mineral Wells the son of George L. and Hattie Wright Welch. He married Dorothy J. Marshall on November 8, 1969 in Mineral Wells. He served in the US Navy as Chief Petty Officer during WWII. He received a Degree in Architecture from the University at Austin. He practiced architecture first in Fort Worth, then Sweetwater, and then Mineral Wells. He was a lifetime rancher and oil and gas investor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells and a member of the Society of American Registered Architects. He did volunteer work for the Fifty Year Club of Mineral Wells High School. Services will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at First Christian Church with Rev. Pam Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Palo Pinto Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Welch of Mineral Wells, daughter: Laurie Mauldin of Mineral Wells, sons and daughters-in-law: Johnny and Judy Mauldin of Hudson Oaks, Jack and Patricia Mauldin of Groesbeck, grandchildren and spouses: Clay and Pamala Brown of Mineral Wells, Brandi and Jamey Stuart of Aledo, Bailey Mauldin of Fort Worth, Brandye and Scott Wilson of Groesbeck, Annie and Jeff Melasky of Groesbeck, 9 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law: Edna Welch of Abilene, nephew: Tim Welch of Alvarado, great-niece and husband: Erin and Cody Cofer of Fort Worth, great-nephew: Ben Welch of Alvarado, and cousins: Melisa Marshall of The Woodlands, and Wally Marshall of Italy, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Jack Welch and niece: Vicky Welch. The family wishes to give special thanks to Alpha and Omega Hospice and especially Cindy Lockwood, Ramona Evans, Deborah Pruitt, and Carol Denman for the care they gave him. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Food Pantry of First Christian Church in his memory.
