Charles Wayne Railsback

October 21, 1943 — October 27, 2023

Charles Wayne Railsback, age 80, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on October 27, 2023 after a lengthy illness.  He was born on October 21, 1943 in the Crazy Water Hotel in Mineral Wells, Texas. His parents were A.M. and Dorthy Sidener Railsback.

Charles graduated from Mineral Wells High School in May of 1962.  After high school he went to work for Southern Airways of Texas at Fort Wolters as a helicopter mechanic.  After they closed, he went to work for Halliburton Oil Company and later transitioned to Tidewater Oil Company until he retired at Carlsbad, New Mexico.  After retiring, Charles was not one to sit around and do nothing. He went into farming, growing and baling alfalfa hay in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

He loved to go deer and elk hunting in Colorado with his son David and many friends. During and after high school he loved to build race cars and race at various drag strips in the Mineral Wells and Fort Worth area. He still owned his favorite 1955 Chevy. He was a very good mechanic and would work very hard until he got it running just right.

Charles married Joyce Marie Duncan on April 21, 1966 in Mineral Wells, Texas. He and Joyce had two children.  He is survived by his son David Railsback and wife Joy of Gilbert, Arizona and daughter Tracy Fierro of Scottsdale, Arizona. He is also survived by three sisters, Vada Fain of Mineral Wells, Charlotte Kincaid and husband Dale of Mineral Wells, and Patsy Spurgeon and husband Larry of Perrin, Texas. Charles is also survived by nieces and nephews, Dee Dee Campbell, Doyle Fain and wife Shelly, Denise Kincaid-Parker of Fort Worth, Texas, Buster Kincaid of Mineral Wells, Kim Donaldson and husband Ed of Saginaw, Texas, Dena Turner and husband Jacob of Perrin, Texas. There were also several great nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Marvin Wayne Railsback, in 1951.

Charles was a good, hardworking father, husband, and brother.  He loved his family and family get-togethers. He will be deeply missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel 2 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023. Interment will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
