Charles Edward Powell, Jr. left this earth for his heavenly home, which was promised to him in God's word, on June 12, 2021, at his residence in Eastland, Tx. John 14:1-3 - 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
Charles was born on November 18,1957 in Waxahachie, Tx to Charles Edward Powell Sr and Shirley Nell Brown Powell.
Charles' life was not an easy one, but he found the goodness in this world through the people that loved him, his church family, his love for singing at church, and his love for the Dallas Cowboys. Charles loved sports and competed many times in the Special Olympics programs that were offered and had many medals to show off for his accomplishments.
Charles was a hugger. He loved to show the people he loved how much they meant to him through his wonderful big hugs. I will miss those hugs. He was basically a shy and reserved soul but he was loving and kind. It makes my heart smile to know that the minute he entered the gates of heaven he was made whole by our loving God who gave us these words of promise: Rev 21:4-5 - And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death, no more sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then he who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new.” - Charles has been made new and now dwells in the house of the Lord forever.
Charles has left to remember him with love his mother, Shirley Powell of Mineral Wells, TX; his sister, Carol Powell Wallace of Ft Worth, TX.; brother and sister in law, Robert and Shelley Powell also of Fort Worth TX; nieces and nephews: Matthew Powell, Jason Powell, Ryan Wallace, Lindsey Wallace, Karen Thomas, Caramie Perry, Breanna Akers, and KiLee Powell; several great niece and nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles. Also left with wonderful memories of Charles (Charlie) are the friends and staff at Rock House in Eastland, TX. who cared for him and loved him through the years.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Powell Sr; grandparents, Norman and Opal Brown and Robert and Willie Fern Powell; brother, Gerald Powell; and his nephew Nicholas Powell.
The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
