Charles Wayland Mills, 69, was carried home to Heaven on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was born November 6, 1943 in Vallejo, California to the late Wayland and Lorene Mills of Wichita Falls. Charles enlisted in the US Navy, where he served honorably on the U.S.S. Raineer during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Oleta Leek Mills on February 14, 1986. Charles worked at the United States Postal Service for the next 20 years. He and his maintenance group were first responders at the Alfred P. Murray Building Bombing. Charles received many accommodations during his 20 year career, none more cherished than the Presidential Accommodation for his participation in the rescue and recovery of the many bombing victims. He later moved to his beloved farm in Mineral Wells, Texas where he cared for and loved all his animals and all their babies. He remained a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Charles was preceded in death by Tammy Leek Foster and Lindsey Lauren Leek. He is survived by one brother: Bob Mills, sisters: Jo Ann Taylor and Brenda Hunter, son: Michael Mills and family, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles Mineral Wells family consisted of wife: Oleta Leek Mills, Randy, Shawna, Brittany, and Scott Leek, Stan Courtney, and Robert Foster. Graveside services will be 10 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 8AM until service time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
