Charles ‘Chuck’ Aubra Buzbee, 86, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. His family grieves the loss of their loved one, but rejoices in the knowledge he is reuniting with his loved ones and the Lord.

Service is 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Visitation is Sunday, March 1 at 2- 4 p.m. at Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers are Russ Whatley, Clint Myrick, Donnie Wigginton, Weldon Bruton, Gary Osborn, Byron Renfro, Honorary pallbearer, Jim Smith. Burial will be at the Buzbee Family Cemetery on their ranch in Santo, Texas.

Chuck was born in Santo, Texas on October 25, 1933, to Bluford A. Buzbee and Clara L. Cantrell Buzbee. He married Nancy C. Martin December 25, 1965, in Mineral Wells, Texas. Their 54 year union produced a son, Martin Russell Buzbee who married Michelle R. Bruton and a granddaughter, Rylan Shea Buzbee.

He grew up in Santo and Mineral Wells and graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1951 and entered the University of Texas at Austin. After 2 years Chuck entered the United States Army and served in the Military Police at the National War College in Washington, D. C. for two years. He returned to Mineral Wells to help his parents with the Buzbee Funeral Home. After an amount of time he returned to the University of Texas and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree.

Buzbee began his law enforcement career as a deputy with the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s office in 1961. During this time he assumed investigator duties with District Attorneys Jim Ashby and Nick Irsfeld with preparing felony cases for trial. Chuck remained with the Sheriff’s office through1966 at which time he accepted the position of Mineral Wells Police Chief in 1967, serving in that capacity until 1969 when he accepted an administrative position with the city.

In recent years, Buzbee has been co-owner and partner of the Omega Co., and has been involved in other business ventures. However, he retained a substantial interest in law enforcement and retired after 37 years. Chuck enjoyed his retirement and spent most of his time at the airport updating his airplane. I believe there was some daily domino games and golfing too.

Chuck is survived by his wife Nancy Buzbee of 54 years, his son, Martin and Michelle Buzbee, granddaughter, Rylan Buzbee, sister in-laws Margaret Renfro, Sandy Myrick, brother in-law Randy and Laura Martin, nieces and nephews Clint Myrick, Byron, Blair, Kim and Ellen Renfro, Lance and Janalee Martin, Brad Buzbee, Lelynn Wilson and Carla Osborn. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Buzbee and sister in-law Erna Mae Buzbee, brother in-law Charlie Myrick, father in-law Raymond L. Martin and mother in-law Joyce Martin.
