Carroll Thomas Baker passed away in his home in Mineral Wells Texas on November 8, 2009. He was born October 17, 1945 to Betty Snyder and Kenneth Malcolm Baker in Maryland and is survived by one daughter. Mr. Baker had six sisters and two brothers: Kenny Baker of Maryland, Ronnie Baker of North Carolina, Patsy Holsinger, Joan Hawkins, Robin Fredricks, Linda Roberts, Bonnie Heffernan, and Sue Alsono all of Maryland with many nieces and nephews. His local family included his beloved three dogs, Twilight, Hushpuppy and Precious. Mr. Baker had lived in Texas for much of his adult life after serving in the military in Vietnam. Mr. Baker served in the US Army for almost 6 years and his rank was SP4. He entered into service at Nellingen, Germany on April 28, 1968 and separated from service at Fort Rucker, Alabama on February 4, 1974. He was known as Tom Baker by most, but his veteran friends referred to him as Tom Cat which was a story that Tom did not always share with others. To his adopted family, Leon and Jessie Teddlie of Whitt, he was known as Tom Tom! He loved family and friends and not only was a member of the Mineral Wells Veterans of Foreign Wars, but also loved to help with cook outs and special services for fallen veterans. He worked as an electrician while in the military and as a civilian worked in many occupations, but his favorite job was working with horses. He was a true cowboy as he was lost without his boots and hat. Services for Carroll Thomas Baker will be at Willow Pond Cemetery on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, that each caring family member and friend make donations for funeral costs to Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home at 302 West Hubbard Street, Mineral Wells, TX 76067.
