Burt Loring Biggers of Fort Worth, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday at the Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells, TX. Mr. Biggers was born April 3, 1927 in Grapevine, TX the son of James and Esther Shofner Biggers. He moved to Fort Worth in the early 1940's and was a Police Officer in Fort Worth during the early 1950's. He graduated Mortuary College and started the Bigger's Funeral Home which he owned and operated from 1957 to 1969. He started the Metroplex Mortuary Service which he owned and operated from 1984 until 2007. He then retired from funeral service after more than 50 years.He was a lover of sports and nature. He loved to feed the pets he and his family had over the years and had up to 20 deer coming to his home for corn on a daily basis. He loved his granddaughters most of all and attended all their sport functions.Survivors include his wife, Bonita June Biggers of Ft. Worth; sons, Mike Shelton of Ft. Worth, Gary Biggers and wife Theresa of Lakeside, Fort Worth and Larry Biggers and wife Patty of Lake Worth, Ft. Worth; daughters, Jackie Shelton and spouse, William Sonntag of Ft. Worth, Jill Coggins and husband, Timothy Bergman of Ft. Worth and Sharon Garner of Lake Worth; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren including granddaughters, Shelley Sonntag and Julianna Goins. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Fort Worth Cancer Center.
