Bruce E. "Rojo" Ficken, an engineer, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010. He was 75 years old. Memorial funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Rev. Bobby Williams officiating. A reception will follow immediately following the service at the American Legion where the family will be receiving guests from 2-4 PM. Bruce Ficken was born May 31, 1934 on a farm near Bison, KS to Elmer and Mary Seuser Ficken. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1956, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Sigma Tau and Steel Ring Honorary Fraternities and an ASME Lifetime Member. He was a registered engineer in the State of Texas. Upon graduation, he worked for Creole Petroleum Corp, in the Lake Maracaibo Region of Venezuela for 10 years. After leaving Venezuela, he worked for Perry Equipment Corp. for 21 years. In 1987, he joined others and helped found Jonell, Inc. in Breckenridge, TX. He was an officer of this company until his death. Survivors include his daughters, Patti and Nancy her and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Laura, Shannon, Jeff and Gray; brothers, Warren of Damar, KS, Dale of Hays, KS, Don of Londonderry, NH; sister, Bonnie of LaCrosse, KS; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clint and a sister, Ruth.
