Bobby Shewmake, beloved husband, dad, papa and brother passed away on Sunday, July 27 at Mineral Wells Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be August 4, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel. Services will be at the First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, 10:00 A.M. August 5, 2014 with Brother Lonnie DeArmond and Pastor Nathan Buchanan officiating. Interment will take place after the service at Grantham Cemetery.Bobby was born April 25, 1941 to Sam and Bessie Shewmake. He graduated from Perrin High School. Bobby married Patricia Schneider after 3 months of dating on July 8, 1972. Bobby lived most of his life in Salesville. He was a member of the Salesville Baptist Church and was a deacon of the church. He was a good and faithful Christian man who loved the Lord and cherished his family.Bobby worked for the First National Bank for 18 years. In 1978, he joined Patricia's parents, Paul and Patsy Schneider in the insurance business. Upon the retirement of the Schneider's he was a co-owner of American Insurance Company where he retired in 2009.Bobby was best known for his ever-present smile and easy going nature. Bobby lived life to the fullest. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren and his extended family. Bobby never met a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to laugh and joke around. He loved being a dad to Stefany, Bob and Sam. He especially loved being PaPa to Robert, Lily and Gracie.Bobby played fast pitch softball for many years. He enjoyed playing with Buddy Blue, Manley brothers, Jackie Gonce, Ed Laney, Wayne Cobb, Ted Bandy, Billy Jack Light, Jeff Murphy, and Marvin Savage. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing with his Uncle Raleigh, David Hinshaw, Curtis Gilbert and especially his son, Sam. Bobby enjoyed playing golf with his son, Sam and his brother, Charles, dear friends Buddy and Janie and Jimmy Riley.In earlier years of Bobby's and Patricia's marriage they loved playing dominos with family and friends. Bobby enjoyed his time with Charles Poole at Murrays Grill many years ago along with his long visits with a wonderful friend, Billy Briscoe. Bobby had a caring heart; he was a caregiver to his aunt and uncle Juanita and Lewis Ladd and his cousin, Juanita Snow for many years. When Bobby got sick, with the help of his son Bob he stayed at home; but as his health deteriorated he was moved to Mineral Wells Nursing and Rehab.Bobby is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia; children, Stefany and husband, Jonny; sons, Bob and Sam; grandchildren, Robert and Lillian Gillen and Gracie Shewmake; brother and wife, Charles and Betty; very special cousin, June and husband George; cousins, Sheila, Stacy, Sharon, Joy, Mitzi, Junior, Bobby Charlie, Joe, Annetta and a host of friends and his dog, Pudley. He was preceded in death by parents, Sam and Bessie Shewmake; sister Margaret Jane; very special cousin Metha Shewmake and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
