Billy Dempsey

Billy Boy "Bill" Dempsey, 63, of Huckabay, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in a Forth Worth Hospital. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday at the First Christian Church in Mineral Wells with burial in the Staggs Prairie Cemetery. Rev. Pamela Holt will officiate. Josh Foegelle, Laun Lively, Martin Hernandez, Larry Cox, Terry Blue, Troy Thornburg, Dickie Griffin and Wade Gear will serve as pall bearers. Mr. Dempsey was born October 20, 1946 in Mineral Wells the son of William Henry and Pauline Wilson Dempsey. He lived in Abilene then moved to Hood County where he lived for the past 20 years. He was a cowboy and was an avid team roper and fisherman. He retired from Classic Rope Company in 2006. He was a wonderful and very loved husband, father and grandfather. He married Mary Ann Wilson, September 13, 1968 in Mineral Wells and was a member of the Pasadena Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Dempsey of Huckabay; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Ranae Dempsey of Tolar and Sloan and Rebecca Dempsey of Leakey; granddaughter, Hayden Dempsey; brothers, Bobby Dempsey and wife Barbara, Toney Dempsey and Crocket Grimes and wife Shirley; several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by parents Bill and Pauline Dempsey and brother Cullen Grimes.
