Billie Medina Smith, 90, of Mineral Wells, Texas, went to join her beloved husband in Heaven on Sunday, January 1, 2017.Services will be held Wednesday, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Wells, with burial to follow in the Memory Gardens ofThe Valley Cemetery in Weatherford. Arrangements are under the direction of Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells.Billie was born October 14, 1926, to Bill and Ila Cartwright in Eldorado, Texas. She graduated from Sonora High School and married her high school sweetheart, Tommy Smith, on March 14, 1944. Tommy owned a car dealership in Sonora before they moved to Hurst, Texas in 1967, settling for good in Mineral Wells in 1989.She was a devoted mother to her three children--Tomye Lyne, Billy Wayne "Bud", and Nancy Jo "Jodie". Billie enjoyed taking trips to the family land in Gatesville and hosting weekend parties at her home. In addition to her job as a bookkeeper, from which she retired in 1988, she was always an active member of her community and kept a busy social calendar, including world-travel with her best friend Nancy Allison. Billie was a member of the Mineral Wells Woman's Club, the Junior History Club, the Red Hats, the Margarita Ladies, and many other social organizations. She was best-known for her fierce skill at a bridge table and participated in multiple bridge groups at the same time. However, her great love was her family and being "Mimi" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Billie was preceded in death by her husband Tommy, granddaughter Dena Perry, and great-grandson Sloan Taliaferro. Survivors include daughter Tomye Lyne Taliaferro, her husband Charlie "Tee", and grandson Brandon and wife Christy; son Bud Smith, and grandchildren Holli Smith and Allison MacLeod; and daughter Nancy Jo Wright, her husband Mike, and grandchildren Lynesey Serfass and husband Tom, and Darby Austin and husband Curry. Billie was also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Zachary Perry, Mackenzie Smith, Lennon Klutts, Luke Glover, Quinn MacLeod, Elliott Klutts, Liberty Austin, and Berkley Austin.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sloan Taliaferro Memorial Scholarship at First National Bank of Santo, P.O.
