Bill Miller, a Navy veteran and long-time resident of Mineral Wells, passed away peacefully on Mar. 3 in Ft. Worth, Texas from a prolonged illness. He was 89. Mr. Miller was born in Maplewood, MO in 1927, and served in the Navy on the USS Cascade during WWII. Bill was the son of the late Elmer and Eula Miller. He was raised, along with his brother Walter, and sister Ruth, in Maplewood. In 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Samuels, also of Maplewood. He started his career at Laclede Christy where he garnered a love for numbers, statistics and production efficiencies that would carry his next career move to Texas. In 1955, Mr. Miller moved his wife and son to Mineral Wells, Texas where he made his permanent home. Here, he managed both the Cantex pipe and US Brick plants. He ended his professional career as Operations Manager over 5 US brick plants in the state. Mr. Miller also served as President of the local Kiwanis and Gun Club, and was a lifetime Methodist. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with family and friends to Colorado. He also enjoyed a good barbecue, bowling, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, his wife, and any time he could spend with his family. He will be dearly missed. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosemary, and their children David Miller (Rachel), Kristi Davis(Thad) ,Karen Davis ( Brad) and grandchildren Shelby Parsons (David), Laura Needham( Casey), Brady, Cale and Spencer Davis, Ashley and Adam Clay. A memorial service was held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Eleventh Avenue Church in Mineral Wells, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or The Eleventh Avenue Church, Mineral Wells, Texas.
