Services for BEULAH MODENE PUREFOY DAVIS, age 94, will be held at 2 PM on August 19, 2011 at the Baum-Carlock- Bumgardner Funeral Home Chapel with William Eudy of East Side Church of Christ officiating. A private burial will be in the Grantham Cemetery in the Salesville Community. Modene died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Mineral Wells, Texas. Modene was born September 17, 1916 in Mineral Wells, the first born ofDavid S. and Eva Irene (Butler) Purefoy. Her mother died when she was 26 months old and she was raised by her step-mother, Emma Lee Roland Purefoy. As a young girl Modene worked in the laundry of the Baker Hotel. Modene's Great-Great-Great Grandfather William Butler and Great-Great- Grandfather Joab Butler are proven citizens of The Republic of Texas. On September 17, 1933, Modene married Clarence W. Davis of the Salesville community. In the mid-1940s they moved to West Texas. They resided in Levelland for 25 years and upon retirement returned to Salesville and built their home on the old Davis home place where they resided many years. Both were long-time members of the Salesville Baptist Church. Clarence died April 3, 1985. Modene is survived by their three daughters, Sarah F. Staggs of Whitesboro, TX Celia Yeary and husband James of San Marcos, TX Nancy Fletcher and husband Weldon of Mineral Wells, TX Six grandchildren ,Diane Staggs Hollingsworth and husband Charles of Melissa, TX, Audrey Yeary Yurcheshen and husband Rick of San Antonio, TX, Bart Yeary and wife Debbie of Ann Arbor, MI Darren Fletcher and wife Kris of Watauga, TX Shannon Fletcher Ford and husband Jerry of Santo, TXLee Fletcher and wife Angela of Benbrook, TX Eleven great-grandchildren Talmadge Hollingsworth and wife Mekida Michelle Hollingsworth Stanley and husband HeathKathryn Hollingsworth, Kelsi Fletcher, Davis Fletcher, Aaron Yeary, Daniel Yeary, Nathan Yeary, Gus Fletche,r Colin Henderson, Colby HendersonOne great-great grandchild - Kara Hollingsworth, Brother-in-law - Ray W. Davis and wife Frances of Dallas and nieces, nephews and cousins.Modene was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings; brothersDavid S. Jr., Bobby and Orville Purefoy; sisters Irene Wright, Vera Foust,Marie Mendenhall; and son-in-law H. T. 'Sonny' Staggs.
