Betty Jo Sparks Whittington

Betty Jo Sparks Whittington passed away on March 11, 2017. She was born October 31, 1933 to Jess and Viola Sparks in a community near Morgan Mill, called Sap Oak Texas. She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Raymond Garrett; parents, two brothers Al and Curtis Sparks and a special nephew, Marshall Sparks. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Earle; nephews Claud Allen Sparks, Donald Sparks and wife Elaine, David Sparks and wife Julia all of Breckenridge, and Mark Sparks of Mineral Wells; nieces, Myrna Uribe and Melody Carlyle of Millsap and Carolyn Smith of Breckenridge and 11 great nieces and nephews. Grandchildren, Stacie Frye, Tracy McCloud and Sheila Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Alisha Gonzalez, Jacob Gonzalez, Lacie McCloud and Makenzie Jacobs; great-great grandchildren, BreAnna McCloud and Spencer White; foster children, Henry "Bud" Dubrawsky, Pete and Mike Dubrawsky; and special friend Ray Selby.Betty worked for 20 years for Dr. Tom Key before going to Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Department from where she retired in 1998.Betty loved bowling which she started in 1957. She was instrumental in starting the local bowling association in Mineral Wells, from which she was the first person inducted into the Mineral Wells Bowling Hall of Fame.Visitation will be Tuesday March 14, 2017 from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday March 15, 2017 10am at Immanual Baptist Church.
