Betty J. Grable, 82, of Mineral Wells, Texas, one of God's Angels on Earth went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, January 8, 2014. She was a recently a short-term resident at Willowbend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mesquite, Texas, where she was doing physical therapy after a recent fall and wrist and hip fracture during the ice storm.She was born March 28, 1931 in Granger, Texas, and her parents were Charlie and Alice Benad. She had a difficult early childhood, but her beautiful life really began when she married Ross Grable of Mineral Wells, Texas on June 30, 1957. She was a very brave and strong woman of great faith in God who was determined to be a stay-at-home mother and take care of her girls, especially when Ross was deployed during the turbulent war years to Thailand and Vietnam without the family. Ross had a 22 year career in the US Army and they traveled together as newlyweds to the Loire Valley of central France for two tours of duty from 1958 to 1965. They arrived stateside after touring Europe for a year of duty at Ft. Irwin, California in the Mojave Desert. After all the moving around with the Army, she really didn't like to travel. She liked the simple things in life, like watching wildlife from her front porch and told everyone she would not come to her 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2007, but she did and her face glowed just like a new bride. Betty's hobbies included crocheting, cooking, and cake decorating. She especially enjoyed doing yard work taking care of others.She is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Brenda Grable of Mesquite, Texas,Sister and Brother-in-law, Barbara and James Elliston of Mineral Wells, Texas,Nephew, Jimmy Elliston and wife Anita of Weatherford, Texas, Sister-in-law, Melba Maddox of Arlington, Texas, Brother-in-law, Billy Grable and wife Lucy of San Diego, CA, Brother-in-law, David Grable of Fairfield, CA, the family of Clyde Woods of the Gainesville/Denton area, Nephew Gary Grable and wife Marilyn of Quinlan, Texas, and Niece, Nan Dodson and husband Alvy of Mansfield, Texas, Sister, Mary Catherine Longley and husband Raymond of Austin, TX and Nephews, Mark, Mitchell and Matthew Longley. She is also survived by her best friend Sylvia Rodriguez of Arizona and her two children, Christopher of North Richland Hills, TX and Christina of Washington, DC who are as close as family.Her loving spouse, Ross S. Grable (d. June 2011), as well as her mother and father Alice and Charlie Benad proceeded her in death. After her mother's early death in the 1930s, she was raised on the farm by her aunt and uncle, Mary and A.J. Johle of Thrall, Texas (both lived to be 99).Funeral to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Eleventh Avenue Church, Mineral Wells, Texas. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 10th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.The family requests memorials to be given to Eleventh Avenue Church, P.O.
