She had a difficult early childhood, but her beautiful life really began when she married Ross Grable of Mineral Wells, Texas on June 30, 1957. She was a very brave and strong woman of great faith in God who was determined to be a stay-at-home mother and take care of her girls, especially when Ross was deployed during the turbulent war years to Thailand and Vietnam without the family. Ross had a 22 year career in the US Army and they traveled together as newlyweds to the Loire Valley of central France for two tours of duty from 1958 to 1965. They arrived stateside after touring Europe for a year of duty at Ft. Irwin, California in the Mojave Desert. After all the moving around with the Army, she really didn't like to travel. She liked the simple things in life, like watching wildlife from her front porch and told everyone she would not come to her 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2007, but she did and her face glowed just like a new bride.
