Betty Coon

Betty Jean Coon (Meeks) (1932-2012) - passed away peacefully Monday January 23,2012. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Born and raised in Mineral Wells, the daughter of Elmer and Tressie Meeks. She was a devoted wife for 59 years to the love of her life Leonard Marion Coon. A devoted mother, and caregiver of all children; she lovingly raised two daughters (Sherri & Sandee), four grand children (Rocky, Brodie, Koby, Carlie) and three great grand children (Berkley, Jenna, Dean), as well as two surrogate children (Julie & Jenna). Also loved by and partially raised her two Sons in law (Roka & Gary). Known as the "Baby Whisperer" by her family for her ability to soothe any baby, her greatest loves in this life were her savior Jesus Christ, her family, babies, her devoted dachshund "Sissy" and birds. Also survived by loving siblings Dud Meeks, Louise Murray and Mildred Meeks, numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Preceded in death by husband, parent and, siblings: Ella Marie Glidewell, Billye Jo and Vernon Brown, Judd "Son" Meeks and Betty Jo Meeks. Visitation Services will be held at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral home on Wed,January 25 at 6-8pm. Graveside service will be held at Indian Creek Cemetery Mineral Wells on Thursday January 26 at 1pm.
