Bethany Nicole Allen, also known as B.B and Sister, passed away peacefully at home April 12th, 2024 after a long battle with brain cancer. Bethany was born November 21st, 1995 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the loving parents Garry and Robin Allen. Bethany was the sister to two brothers Bryson and Braxton Allen.
B.B. was a dedicated student athlete at Mineral Wells High School, graduating with honors in 2014. After high school, Bethany attended Weatherford Junior College and made All-Conference and All-Region honors at shortstop. She also earned her Bachelors Degree in Sports Management.
During her sophomore season a collision with an outfielder left her with a concussion. A precautionary MRI led to the discovery of a brain tumor. However, Beth and her passion for the game and determination to continue playing ball drove her to finish getting her degree. The battle thru weeks of radiation treatments only drove her to support her teammates at practice each and every day.
After graduating from Weatherford Junior College and having her cancer go into remission, Bethany enrolled at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. While at Henderson, she was given the Ben Hogan Award of Perseverance. Bethany was also one of four infielders in the country and the only player in Henderson history to be named Academic All-American.
That same year Bethany was chosen to throw out the first pitch at the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, OK. In the Fall of 2018, Bethany started her coaching career as assistant coach at Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK.
In 2019 Beth accepted an assistant coaching job at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. During this time Bethany earned her Masters in Business Administration.
In 2021, Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana offered Beth her first D1 coaching position.
From 2021-2024 Bethany finished out her coaching career at Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas where she helped coach softball and volleyball.
It also needs to be mentioned that Bethany loved animals, especially cats. I know her cat Tippy and dog Thor are feeling the loss of their owner.
Bethany’s legacy as a daughter, sister, friend and teammate will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known her. Bethany’s passion and devotion towards family and friends will forever be cherished.
As we celebrate Bethany’s life, we carry her love of softball, her insatiable love for God and her transformative power to never give up. Rest in Peace Bethany, B.B., Sister. Even though Bethany’s journey ended way too soon, she is now reunited with her mother Robin Allen in Heaven.
We held you in our arms for 28 years, while you held God in your Heart. Now, God has you in His arms and we will forever hold you in our hearts.
