Alton Eugene Burkhalter

Alton Eugene Burkhalter, 87, of Mineral Wells passed away March 23, 2023. He was born December 17, 1935, in Overton, TX, to Judge Earl and Alma Mae Pope Burkhalter. He was an Ordained Deacon at Rock Creek Baptist Church and then at Immanuel Baptist Church. Along with being a deacon he also was the handyman, custodian, and led music. Alton was always thinking about others for example when someone was in need of blood he would go and donate. He retired from Lockheed Martin after 32 years. While working at Lockheed he worked on the B58, F 1-11, F-16 and the F-22.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Royce Elaine Burkhalter; children, Colleen Arnold and husband Dennis, Jim Burkhalter and wife Sharon, Dani Arnold and husband David; daughter-in-law, Nettie Burkhalter; grandchildren, Joshua Arnold and wife Adriane, Micah Arnold and wife Rhiannon, Jamie Bassham, Michael Burkhalter, Angela Risk and husband Matthew, Donavan Burkhalter, and David Eugene Arnold; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy Eldon (Don) Burkhalter; and lifelong friend Gordon Stewart.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at Immanuel Baptist Church with burial following at Bethesda Cemetery.
