Allen Russell Griffin, 77, of Mineral Wells, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home with burial in the Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday. Mr. Griffin was born April 11, 1932, in Ware County, GA, the son of James Robert and Margaret Leona Tuten Griffin. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for Cantex for 48 years as a fork lift operator, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Mineral Wells Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2399 and a member and past president of the Mineral Wells American Legion Post 75. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Joyce Belz of Houston and Rossiland Norton and husband Billy Spears of Cypress; grandson, James Norton, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph R. and Colleen Griffin of Waycross, GA; sister, Marceil and Grady Wildest of Waycross, GA; several nieces and nephews including Kathy Brogdon and husband J. A. of Millsap; special friends, Kay Roberts and Connie Holt. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Thrift and two brothers, Edward and Gene Griffin.
