Alleen Bettis

Alleen Bettis, 88, of Mineral Wells, Texas passed away September 14, 2019. She was surrounded by her devoted husband of 70 years and her loving family. She fought a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.Alleen was born to the late Samuel and Luella Fussell on December 23, 1930 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Her father worked for Big Chief Drilling Company which took them all over Texas and Oklahoma. In 1946 they moved to Canadian, Texas where she met the love of her life Floyd Bettis. They were married on March 3, 1949 and made their home in Canadian, Texas. Her husband went to work for Halliburton in 1954 eventually moving overseas in 1960. His job took them to Benghazi Libya, Great Yarmouth England, Tehran Iran, Cairo Egypt and Madrid Spain. After 26 years of overseas assignments they retired and returned to Oklahoma City. In 2001 they moved to Mineral Wells, Texas to be closer to their parents.Alleen's hobbies included entertaining, cooking, dancing and traveling. She was an avid bridge player and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Alleen was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but wonderful and beautiful memories.Alleen was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Luella and brother George Fussell. She is survived by her loving Husband Floyd and their three children Kiplin (Valerie) of Corpus Christi, Kent (Rhonda) of Bartlesville and Kimberly (late David) of Fulshear. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 5:00 -7:00 pm at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home, 302 West Hubbard, Mineral Wells, Texas (940-325-4422). Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Edith Ford Cemetery, 203 South 3 rd Street, in Canadian, Texas.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mineral Wells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 316 SW 25th Avenue, Mineral Wells, Texas 76067 (940-325-1358).
