Alfred Stevens

b. August 16, 1941

Alfred (Al) H. Stevens was born August 16, 1941 and passed at the age of 74 on September 25, 2015. Al passed after a long battle of medical issues as a result of complications from agent orange. He married the love of his life Linda Mahan on June 30, 1962 in Mineral Wells. He was a longtime resident of Mineral Wells and a member of Central United Methodist Church. He retired from the US Army after 22 ½ years of service, including both Vietnam and the Korean Conflict. His travels in the military took him to France, Germany, Ft. Leonardwood, MO., Ft. Bliss, TX., Ft. Lewis, WA., and Ft. Hood, TX. Al also retired from Funeral Service after 13 years, following his military career. He was a past president of the Mineral Wells Evening Lions Club and the Knights of Pythias. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday, September 28, 2015 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Services will be 9 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Linda Stevens of Mineral Wells, sons and daughter-in-law: Chuck Stanley Stevens of Mountain Home, Arkansas, David Norman and Sarah Stevens of Natchitchos, Louisiana, brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Rick and Brenda Mahan, grandchildren: Andrew Mark, Amanda Breanne, David Ray, Melinda Kai, Spencer Grant, and Cassandra Rai Stevens, Colton Chance and Corbit Taylor Cassaday, 7 great-grandchildren, siblings and spouses: Stanley and Delores Stevens, Wesley and Delores Stevens, Wesley and Anita Stevens, David and Sandra Stevens, Martha and Ken Frost, Margaret and Robert Strubcewski, and Charles and Marilyn Stevens, numerous nieces and nephews, special nephew: Gary Mahan and wife Nickie, and his favorite companion: Prissy. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bertha Mae Waldron and Norman Franklin Stevens, brother: Byron Stevens, sister: Ferelene Conley, and mother-in-law and father-in-law: U. L. and Willie Mahan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warriors and St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his memory.
