Ada Jo Rhodes, 77, died Nov. 4, 2012, in a Fort Worth hospital. Service is 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at Salesville Baptist Church, in Salesville, with graveside service following in Whitt Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Born Feb. 27, 1935, to Curtis Joe and Ada Almina (Phillips) Walker, she was a lifelong resident of the Mineral Wells and Salesville areas. A loving mother for 59 years and a devoted wife for 27 years (until her husband's untimely death), Jo was a member of Salesville Baptist Church since 1947 and over the years taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She married Melvin Newt "Dusty" Rhodes in Lawton, Okla., on March 24, 1951. Jo worked as a telephone operator and served as a manager at Brookshires in Mineral Wells for years. She enjoyed rural life and as a girl was a barrel racer. Survivors include five children, Melvin Wayne Rhodes and wife, Elaine; Michael Dean Rhodes and wife, Jennifer, Silvia Rhodes Dollins, Linda Rhodes Grett and husband, Stan, and Brenda Rhodes Henderson and husband, Daniel; sister, Margaret Patton; cousin, A.G. Walker; nine grandchildren and spouses, Rebekah Jo Rhodes Carder, Joel and Ashley Rhodes, Robert Shane and Wendy Dollins, Samantha Jo Rhodes, Jessica Jo Fellows and fiancé Erick Nickerson, Alex W. Grett, Sarah Jean Hall, Klarissa Jo Henderson, Kolbi Ryan Henderson and Khristian Lee Henderson; and seven great-grandchildren, Olive Rhodes, Hunter Reed, Whitney Dollins, Eli Dollins, Preston Dollins, Liberty Dollins and Konnor Nickerson. She was preceded in death by parents, Curtis Joe (C.J.) and Ada Walker; sister, Ruby Walker; brothers, Milburn and Joe Arnold Walker; uncle J.B. Phillips; and brother-in-law, T.J. Patton.
